Wyvern Savings & Loans joins Street Support to tackle homelessness in its community

Last week, Wyvern Savings & Loans committed its support alongside its local MP and charities to tackle homelessness in its community.

The organisation ‘Street Support’ formally launched in Bournemouth last week, provides an online information resource that brings all the local community support together in one place to help people out of homelessness.

Wyvern Savings & Loans joins a large number of local and national organisations supporting Street Support with advice and practical help including benefits and legal advice, food, accommodation and health services.

Director of Wyvern Savings & Loans, Tim Topper, believes what is important is that everyone involved with Street Support “share the common objective to help the homeless back into the mainstream of society through support and a focus on self-help leading to independence”.

Tim added: “Wyvern Savings and Loans has committed to working with Street Support to help individuals to save money and manage it better – being homeless does not always mean being without money, but is frequently about not being organised or in a position to manage it. Our initial aim is to help people with a place to save as part of their way back into the mainstream of society”.

In attendance at the launch last week was Conor Burns MP for Bournemouth West. Conor has been a strong advocate for the work charities do in supporting rough sleepers, he said: “I have a very strong feeling that the best response to the issues around homelessness is a collaborative approach that brings everyone together, making the most of the thriving third sector of church and voluntary groups that we have in the area.

“The signing up of the councils and all organisations to Street Support is a huge step forward”.

The Street Support website is a domain for all services and support available to the homeless and at risk of homelessness to be shared, together with information on progress where active and planned.
